A DAY TRIP I DIDN’T PLAN FOR (Exploring Ibadan City).

Thank God it’s Friday! And a Happy Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim readers.

Earlier this week, I posted something I wanted on my WhatsApp status, not knowing that my wish would come true just a few days later.

I’ve been longing to go on a road trip for almost a year now. The last time I left Lagos was about two years ago. I had plans to travel last year, but COVID-19 got in the way. Since then, the urge for a road trip has only grown stronger.

On Thursday, I finally went on one. It wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned because it was just a day trip—I had hoped for at least a week-long adventure. But who am I to complain?

Since it was a public holiday, the roads were relatively free of traffic, and the weather was quite favorable, making it an ideal trip. I enjoyed every moment of it. I also got the chance to take some pictures of the places I visited in Ibadan, which I’ll be sharing below.

I've always loved traveling because there's a special feeling that comes with changing your environment and exploring new places. Even though I don’t yet have the freedom to travel on my own since I’m under 18, I spend a lot of time reading travel blogs like Cassie Daves and Aina Dada, checking their Instagram pages, and watching vlogs from creators like Tayo Aina Films. I often find myself imagining the day I’ll be able to do what they’re doing, hopefully in the next two years. Travel is something I’m truly passionate about, and I can’t wait to experience it for myself.

Like Oprah Winfrey said; Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.

So I challenge you today, find something you love doing, it can be singing, dancing, anything, just anything that makes you happy and stick to it. You got this as long you don’t give up.
