An open letter to myself in 5 years....

NOTE: This letter might be a little bit crazy. But I encourage all those of you, who would be reading this article, to write to yourself. Think of it as an exercise in self-love, a means of preserving and protecting what’s important today well into the future. Write letters to yourself, which contain all your dreams and aspirations. All those unfulfilled daydreams. All those crazy ideas.~ Copied.

Dear future self,

I don’t even know where to start or how to start but I hope you’re doing great. I hope you’ll be reading this on your 21st birthday. I want you to read this in a serene environment where you’ll not be disturbed and please plug in your headsets and listen to YESTERDAY, EVERYDAY AND ALWAYS by Tatiana.

It’s been a crazy ride for the past 21 years. A roller coaster, full of ups and downs but I’m happy you made it regardless of everything you’ve been through. You’ve loved, you’ve been heartbroken.. you’ve trusted, you’ve been betrayed... you’ve laughed... you’ve cried... you’ve fallen a thousand times, you’ve gotten NO’s more than YES(s) but all these made you who you’re today.

I hope you’ve been able to understand that love doesn’t hurt. Love doesn’t make you cry, love isn’t one sided or unsure about you. Love doesn’t teach you to feel unworthy but instead love teaches you that you’re worth everything and more. And most importantly love teaches you new ways to love yourself, every single day. I hope you’ve been able to trust again.

I hope you’ve been able to do the crazy things you’ve not be opportune to do like driving around the streets of Lagos at night, going to karaoke, spending time at the beach, traveling round the world, visiting all the suya spots in Lagos, mixing suya with Asun 🥺, pulling an all nighter with your girls, visiting the road side restaurants with your friends and basically having fun.

I hope you’ve been able to build your brand. You know that’s your biggest dream and you really don’t like the idea of 9-6 jobs. I hope you’re making progress. I hope you’re working towards being on Forbes list and becoming the richest fashionpreneur in Africa.

I hope you’ve conquered your fears, smashed insecurities and embraced self love. Like I always tell you, YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL... YOU’RE POWERFUL ... YOU’RE STRONG. I hope you still look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself Positive things.

I hope you’ve traveled to places you think you couldn’t get to and made memories with friends and families.

I hope you’re still practicing the act of giving... your resources, your time👀🌚.

I hope you’re still steadfast in your faith. I hope you still remember that you can’t do anything without him and I hope you still remember that he got you covered, always ❤️

I hope you have grown into someone I can be proud of. Take care.
